Day 1 - the flight

So I feel it is important to establish that I won't be eating a bagel each day... You know, I like them , I'm not really too fussed though, and I needed an American-themed title (apparently, according to jack, 'East Coasting' was more of a no go, so here I am...). Also I figured we probably won't be able to eat expensively/well, so there's no need to upload pictures of burgers upon burgers... I digress...

So pre-Boston flight, I was feeling pretty pessimistic about spending the next eight hours on a plane sober, so we had a few drinks before to calm my nerves... Unfortunately this was at the expense of figuring out our departure gate was open and upon realising we could be late, my nerves became more frayed than ever.

Anti-climictically, the flight was great - stuffed myself full of complimentary food/alcohol (paid enough for Virgin Atlantic though), and watched loads of tv. Landing into Boston followed suit, and the grey sky was pretty drab. Added to this, out first task was to find a 7/11 store to pick up greyhound tickets (which took us several hours, and several miles from our hostel... Oh and we were accosted by a drug addict... Nice).

So not so exciting for the first day? Well, after the 7/11 debacle, we grabbed some pizza and headed to an Irish-themed, trashy bar called 'Tams' (side bar - I'm assuming 'Tam' was the overweight and over-friendly bar 'maid', but I couldn't get a word in between her 'darlin's and 'sweetheart's). But you know what... I had a great time. Drinking blue moon and watching ice hockey 'on the box' - the American dream.

Boston, you sly bastard...
